A Frontier Airlines representative confirmed to WLWT that flight 1761 was diverted to Atlanta after a witness reported seeing a passenger using a box cutter.

Police have not released the suspect’s identity at this time.

No injuries to passengers or crew were reported.

Passengers said the man made threats to stab others on board.

“When he went to the bathroom the passenger in the window seat looked at me and said ‘Hey he has a knife and he told me he threatened to stab people we have to say something to someone.’ So I went and talked to the flight attendant at the front of the plane and let them know like this guy has a box knife and he’s been telling us that he wants to stab people,” said Lillian Hoffman.

The plane landed safely in Atlanta and the passenger in question was taken away by police, a Frontier spokeswoman said.

The plane took off from CVG around 7:23 p.m. and landed in Atlanta just before 9 p.m., officials said.

All passengers were taken from the plane and put in a hotel overnight. WLWT obtained images of the incident from witnesses on the plane.
