Elon Musk is unconventional.
He alone manages five companies, each with an important role in their respective sectors.
The stature of the billionaire also increases the pressure, as his detractors will be thrilled if one of his companies fails.

SpaceX, Musk’s aerospace company, has forced space players to rethink their approach to rocketry. The reusable rocket promoted by Musk is taking hold, while living on Mars is no longer just a distant dream.
The company is also cementing the prospect of secure internet with the global rollout of Starlink, a satellite internet service.
Like Tesla, SpaceX needs Musk to carry out its mission and realize its ambitions.
‘I need to run Twitter’
Twitter’s revenue is not only based on the products and services it offers, but mostly on the advertisers who promote their brands on the platform.
The company is the digital city square of our time, which has received scrutiny from politicians and regulators. Musk, who is used to offering revolutionary products, is therefore faced with new challenges that differ from the reality at Tesla and SpaceX.
Its early days on Twitter have been marred by controversy over content policies on the platform and by technical problems that have led to an increase in fake accounts claiming to be politicians, big business and celebrities. As a result, Musk had to suspend the Twitter Blue subscription service.
In this context John Legere, the former CEO of T-Mobile, offered himself to lead Twitter in Musk’s place.
“Hi @elonmusk, I think I should run @twitter,” Legere told the billionaire on Twitter on November 13. @Twitter.”
“I’m expensive but also what you pay for twitter (ps please be an example of leadership how to tweet🥇),” added Legere.
Musk’s response was swift and clear. It comes down to one word: “No.”
It’s hard to tell if Legere is serious, but he responded to Musk’s denial by offering some advice.
“@elonmusk Well that was a short interview 🤔, fair enough, Can’t say I didn’t try. #NoMeansNo 🤷♂️,” Legere answered.
He continued: “@elonmusk @Twitter But please consider👂 the free advice included in my suggestion. I believe @twitter can be a marketplace for transparent free speech AND profitable growth companies. It requires vision but also leadership and management. ✅”
It’s not certain that Musk will heed Legere’s advice. The billionaire no longer responded to him, at least in public.
Legere, building the image of a rebel telecommunications leader, who pulled T-Mobile from the brink of irrelevance and turned it into a successful carrier. He became CEO of T-Mobile in 2012 and left the company in 2019, following its merger with rival Sprint.
Legere often stands out with his colorful vocabulary and long hair. He ditches the traditional suit and corporate tie for a sporty look, made of jeans, slacks, a fuchsia T-Mobile T-shirt, magenta sneakers and running shoes.
He ditched the contract and offered a simpler monthly rate, which would become known as The Uncarrier. This changed the way the industry worked for the benefit of consumers, and allowed T-Mobile to claim its place next to behemoths AT&T and Verizon.
